What a bet costs
Every bookmaker price has a fee built into it. Add up the implied probabilities of every outcome in a market and the total comes to more than 100 percent; the excess is the margin, and you pay it on every bet you place, whether it wins or loses.
This page reports the margin we measure on the odds we collect. It is not a forecast and not a tip. It is the one number on this site that does not depend on our models being right, and over a season it is worth more than most things that do. Each price series is measured on its own competitions and its own capture point. Compare bookmakers within a series, never across two.
